It ended all square at Lowfield as FC Romania held onto a point toward their relegation fight, and Hoddesdon were frustrated by missed chances.
FC Romania began the game in sharp fashion with Liam Nugent called into action within the first ten minutes to keep out a smart shot. On 23 minutes however, he was unable to do much about an excellent strike from Christ Jesus Sery that was hit low and clean from the right corner of the penalty area. FC Romania lead 1-0.
Hoddesdon responded though and a free kick was played forward into the FC Romania box, headed across the six yard box by Jimmy Agnew, and when the defenders failed to clear, it sat up for Maurice Abana to strike a volley that dipped nicely into the bottom left corner. You can see that goal HERE courtesy of Antony. 1-1 after half an hour played.
Hoddesdon almost managed to go in at halftime with the lead, but a dipping effort from Jason Brown went narrowly over just before the whistle sounded for the break.
The second half saw the chances slow to arrive for both sides to begin with, but built to a crescendo of goal threat as Hoddesdon pushed to find a winner. A flurry of set pieces into the box were failing to find a killer finish. At the death, Harrison Cage played an excellent ball in where Jimmy Agnew was well positioned at the back post only to see his close range hit go agonisingly high with the goal gaping.
It finished 1-1 with a feeling of a missed chance for Hoddesdon but still positives to be taken as we look to finish the season on a high.
There is a big day of football on Sunday at Lowfield with a charity game so join us for that one. The next weekend is the final game of the season on the Saturday and the hotly anticipated Hoddesdon Town legends game on Sunday.
MotM: Jake Harvey with an excellent defensive performance and attacking contribution.
