MATCH PREVIEW: NW LONDON vs HODDESDON TOWN

Tuesday, 18th November 2025 – 3pm
Venue: Coles Park Stadium

Introduction
Hoddesdon Town head to Coles Park Stadium tomorrow looking to extend their remarkable unbeaten run and continue climbing away from the bottom of the table. After what can only be described as a disastrous start to the season, the Lilywhites have suddenly found form, confidence, and character. Six games unbeaten in all competitions has breathed new life into the squad and given supporters a sense that this season may yet turn into something memorable.

Tomorrow’s opponents, NW London, sit comfortably in mid-table, but their campaign has been anything but straightforward. They’ve beaten top sides, dropped points in games they were expected to win, and remain one of the league’s most unpredictable teams. Their attacking threat is well-known, but lapses at the back have held them back from pushing further up the standings.

Put simply: both teams enter this game with something to prove. Hoddesdon want to keep their revival rolling. NW London want to steady the ship. The ingredients are there for a lively, hard-fought evening in North London.

Hoddesdon’s Untold Story: From Bottom to Belief
At one stage this season, it looked like nothing would go right for Hoddesdon Town. Performances were inconsistent, goals were hard to come by, and defensive errors were punished ruthlessly. Being rooted to the bottom of the table became an uncomfortable reality.

But football seasons are long, and fortunes can turn quickly.

The shift began quietly. A few tighter defensive displays. A bit more bite in midfield. More confidence in the final third. Eventually, the pieces came together.

Since then, Hoddesdon haven’t looked back.

Their last six games:

Beat Burnham Ramblers 2–1 (away)

Drew 1–1 with FC Baresi (away)

Drew 2–2 with Brimsdown (home)

Beat Dunmow Town 2–0 (away)

Beat May & Baker EC 5–1 (home)

Beat Tring Corinthians 3–1 (away – HSCT Cup)

It’s a run that has transformed the atmosphere around the club. The team suddenly look organised, aggressive, and confident. Chances are being created and taken. The defence looks sharper. There’s belief again.

They’re still low in the table, but the mood has completely changed. And tomorrow’s game is another chance to prove that this run isn’t a fluke — it’s the new standard.

NW London: Unpredictable, Exciting, and Dangerous
NW London’s season has been a roller-coaster. On their day, they can beat anyone. On another, they can look fragile. That inconsistency has left them floating in mid-table, unsure whether they’re closer to the top six or the danger zone.

Their recent results tell the story:

Lost 2–0 vs Wimbledon Casuals

Lost 3–2 vs Southend Manor

Drew 2–2 with FC Romania

Beat Hutton 2–1 (away)

Beat Barkingside 3–1 (away)

They can produce brilliant moments — especially in attack — but their defence has allowed 31 goals already this season. If Hoddesdon play with the intensity they've shown in recent weeks, chances will come.

Still, NW London are no soft touch, especially at Coles Park Stadium, a ground they know well and where they often raise their level.

Player to Watch – Chukwuka Christopher Eseka (NW London)
If there’s one name Hoddesdon fans should be aware of, it’s Chukwuka Christopher Eseka — NW London’s star forward and the man who has already scored 11 goals this season.

Eseka is fast, tricky, direct, and deadly in front of goal. He loves running at defenders and rarely needs more than a single chance to make his mark. When NW London attack on the break, he’s almost always the one leading the charge.

What makes Eseka dangerous?

Movement – Finds pockets of space everywhere.

Acceleration – Explodes past defenders in one stride.

Finishing – Hardly wastes a chance.

Confidence – Always believes he’ll score.

Hoddesdon’s defence have improved significantly over the last six matches, but stopping Eseka will be one of their toughest challenges yet.

Keep him quiet, and Hoddesdon’s chances of getting a result improve dramatically.

Last Time...
The last time the two sides met was back on 23rd September 2025, when Hoddesdon hosted NW London in what turned out to be a dramatic and frustrating afternoon for the Lilywhites. Despite a spirited performance and two well-worked goals of their own, Hoddesdon slipped to a 3–2 defeat, undone largely by the sharp finishing of Chukwuka Christopher Eseka, who struck twice and proved a constant menace throughout. Hoddesdon pushed hard for an equaliser late on, but NW London held firm to take all three points, leaving Hoddesdon with plenty of lessons to reflect on — and plenty of motivation heading into tomorrow’s rematch.

What’s at Stake
For Hoddesdon Town:

A seventh game unbeaten.

Another leap away from the bottom places.

Growing belief and momentum before the busy winter schedule.

For NW London:

A chance to stop their recent slide.

A vital home win to keep mid-table security.

Protecting their goal-scoring reputation.

For both sides, it’s more than just three points. It’s psychological. It’s about setting the tone for the next stretch of the season.

Final Thoughts
Hoddesdon Town’s journey from the bottom of the league to a team feared for its form has been one of the stories of the season. Tomorrow is another test — one that will show just how far the side has come in such a short time.

NW London will offer pace, quality, and the goal threat of Eseka. But Hoddesdon arrive with something just as valuable: belief, structure, and momentum.

If the Lilywhites maintain their focus, stay tight at the back, and take their chances, there’s no reason the unbeaten run can’t hit seven.

Safe travels to all supporters heading to Coles Park — and as always, Up the Lilywhites!
