Having seen this game postponed on no less than THREE occasions this season, there is hope that the fixture will finally get underway on Wednesday evening.

Wormley Rovers ground has thrice been affected by bad weather when Hoddesdon have been due to visit, meaning their tenants, Brimsdown, have been unable to host Simon Riddle's tricky Lilywhites. The forecast between now and Wednesday however, is not ideal, so it remains to be seen whether or not this game will survive. Landlord's Wormley are not due to play on the surface again until the 16th of April, so hopefully, with a rest, the surface will be playable.

Last time out, Hoddesdon suffered a rare defeat, only their third loss in fifteen games and ending a run of no defeats in the last five. A 2-0 win for Dunmow Town, which included a goal for the league's leading goalscorer Stuart Zanone, condemned the Lilywhites to defeat, although there is much to be buoyant about. The run of results recently have been nothing short of extraordinary, and Wednesday brings another opportunity to further consolidate a mid table position. A win against Brimsdown will all but mathematically ensure Hoddesdon's participation the Thurlow Nunn Division One South next season, with the chasing pack needing to overturn an enormous goal difference to even think about dragging Hoddesdon back into the bottom three.

After Brimsdown Rovers merged with Enfield 1893 in 2010, there was no representative Non-League football for the Brimsdown area. In 2013, Lee Okugbeni, with help from Osbourne Powell and Peter Omondi, formed Brimsdown FC to complete in the Spartan South Midlands League using the secondary pitch on The Downs as out home pitch, after successfully running an u18s the year before. February 2018 saw a new management team of Ahmet Toygun and Yilmaz Celik decided take over the club, both having been in football for over ten years. Ahmet Toygun has been managing and coaching his own football academy called North London Football Academy. In May 2020, Ahmet Toygun took full control and is the owner of Brimsdown FC. Ahmet’s 5 year plan is to bring Brimsdown FC back to Enfield and own their own football ground with training facilities. The clubs current First Team Manager is Junior Matte.

Last time out, table toppers Benfleet inflicted a heavy 4-1 defeat on our hosts at Canvey Island's Park Lane ground. That win see's Benfleet needing just 4 points to secure the league title, with Wormley dropping points to an improving Park View.

Ninth placed Brimsdown's league record reads Played 36, Won 15, Drawn 7, Lost 14, amassing 52 points and a positive goal difference of 20. Hoddesdon have played the same amount of games as their hosts but sit six points and two league positions below them in 11th. Brimsdown have scored 67 league goals and conceded 47. Their home record reads Played 16, Won 8, Drawn 2, Lost 6, scoring 37 goals and conceding 17. They sit 7th in the recent form table, two places above Hoddesdon, having Won 3, Drawn 1 and Lost 2 of their last 6 fixtures. Of their remaining six league fixtures, five of them are due to be played at home, so their will be hope that their Wormley base will be available to complete the schedule.

Brimsdown have the fourth leanest defence in the league. 47 goals conceded is only bettered by the top three teams of Benfleet, Wormley and Harlow, so Hoddesdon will have to be wary of a defence that knows how to shut out their opponents. In contrast however, they are the lowest scorers of the top ten teams in the division, and come up against a much improved Hoddesdon defence, so we are in for a fascinating tie.

Top goalscorer Zion Dos Santos has 22 goals in 33 appearances in all competitions this season. With an outside chance of making the play offs still a possibility, manager Junior Matte will be hoping Dos Santos can provide the goals to propel them up the table.
