The games come thick and fast now as Hoddesdon attempt to catch up with the others in the league and the midweek visit of NW London is yet another chance to climb the table.

On Saturday, the team ground out a tight 1-0 win over Tower Hamlets courtesy of super sub Harrison Cage notching the winning goal, just 60 seconds after entering the field of play in the 55th minute. It's quite the renaissance for Cage who faced a spell on the sidelines after a freak arm injury against Cuffley back on the 23rd of January. He grabbed two goals against Dunmow on the 16th of March and therefore now has 6 goals for the campaign, level with Dion Laughton.

Amid the pleasing result however, there was a bad injury to Connor Casey, with many fearing a broken ankle would be the diagnosis. News has reached us that this isn't the case though, although he has suffered significant ligament damage which will likely indicate a prolonged spell on the treatment table. We wish Connor all the best for a speedy recovery.

Captain Jack Gibbs scooped the Greene King Man of the Match award again at the weekend, after his defensive display saw the Lilywhites bag another clean sheet and the skipper has continued to impress this season, leading the side by example and being the tough tackling player that we have needed to climb the table.

Turning to our opponents, they currently sit in 16th position, just two points clear of the drop zone, and will come to Lowfield desperate for the win.

NW London were formed in 2015 by current manager Wasim Khan and Samir Naji from Cricklewood and Kilburn respectively. In 2017, the club entered the Middlesex County League system. They entered the FA Vase for the first time in 2019–20. The 2021-2022 season was a treble winning year in which the club captured the Middlesex Premier Division along with two cup competitions, the Anagram Records Trophy & Middlesex Intermediate Cup.

Their league record this season reads as Played 38, Won 12, Drawn 3, Lost 23 and registering 39 points with a -38 goal difference. They have scored 77 goals but have conceded the highest number of goals in the league with 115. Their heaviest defeat of the season came just two weeks ago, an 8-1 away defeat to Hutton, and on more than one occasion they have conceded heavily, twice by seven goals and and thrice by six.

Indeed, the last time these two sides met, Hoddesdon inflicted a heavy defeat upon the Harlow based side.

Goals from Jamie Pitt, Narcis Filip, Jamaine Galya, Jack Riddle and two from Conor Bolton, ensured a thumping victory for Simon Riddle's side back in late August. This game was played at London Colney's ground, before they moved to Harlow's Pardus Wealth Stadium. The club have agreed a deal with Haringey Borough next season to ground share at The CVS Van Hire Stadium, formely known as Coles Park Stadium, in White Hart Lane, N17. On that evening, after going behind to a third minute Alex Kozak strike, Hoddesdon scored four before half time and a further two in the second half. Only a 68th minute goal from Nicolas Sanchez mildly spared the hosts blushes as Hoddesdon ran out comfortable 6-2 winners.

Last time out, manager Wasim Khan witnessed his side, nicknamed 'The Gorilla's', ship another six goals on Saturday last, this time away at Cannons Wood. His team do appear to struggle away from home, with their travelling record reading Played 18, Won 4, Drawn 1, Lost 13, scoring 31 and conceding 57.

It is a quite 'Jekyll and Hyde' team at times however, with their last away win coming only 11 days ago, a very impressive 5-2 win against 10th placed May & Baker, so they are still more than capable of pulling off a result on their travels, despite the poor overall record. On that occasion, a brace from Chukwuka Eseka saw them home and he represents a player of real quality. 17 goals in just 19 appearances is a phenomenal record for any player at any level, and so Hoddesdon need to be careful of his potential to cause damage. They also have Alex Kozac in the side who leads their goal scoring charts with 19 in 32 appearances, including that goal against the Lilywhites back in August.

Midfielder Juan Araque has featured for the side 39 times this season in all competitions, 38 in the starting line up, and also has 6 goals to his name.

Hoddesdon have the opportunity to climb to 11th place with a win, should Barkingside fail to beat Basildon on Monday evening. There are a raft of Bank Holiday Monday fixtures in the league this week, so by the time Hoddesdon kick off on Tuesday, the picture, and indeed the reward for a win, will be a little clearer. Hoddesdon still have plenty of games in hand over the teams both above and below them, having played 34 league games so far this season, with 8 more to go. The good news for Hoddesdon is that their home form has improved dramatically since the end of December, with just one loss at Lowfield in the last 10 games, a defeat to league leaders Benfleet FC on the 9th of March.

Kick Off on Tuesday is 7:45pm and the clubhouse bar and tea bar will be open, serving hot and cold refreshments. Sample our draught range at the bar, with Spanish favourite Cruzcampo Lager, Greene Kings delicious Ice Breaker IPA and Inch's Apple Cider at the taps.
