Basildon Town vs. Hoddesdon Town - Saturday 16th December
After a number of recent postponements due to bad weather, Hoddesdon Town return to league action this Saturday as they travel to meet Basildon Town in the Thurlow Nunn Division 1 South.
This game will be played at Romford FC’s ground, Rookery Hill, Corringham SS17 9LB
Frozen pitches and badly timed rainfall have robbed the Lilywhites of the chance to further build on some very encouraging recent performances. This can be put right on Saturday as we travel to Romford FC’s ground to take on Basildon Town.
Basildon Town have so far experienced a very similar season to the Lilywhites. Both teams have recorded some impressive wins against strong opposition, followed by runs of disappointing defeats. Postponements have had an impact on each side and played a part in disrupting momentum on occasions. We sit next to each other in the league table level on points, goal difference, number of wins and number of draws, so both teams will be giving their all to use Saturday as a chance to kickstart a push up the table.
Whilst Hoddesdon Town’s current league position is disappointing, the mood around the club has been boosted by some spirited performances and a growing sense of belief among the fans and players. Progress in the cups has provided some exciting wins and also some eye-catching performances from goalkeeper Liam Nugent, recent signing Dion Laughton, and a very welcome return to action for Blue Gallagher. Some of the young stars are visibly growing in confidence and there is a real determination from the lads to start recording the wins that they are capable of. If you can’t cheer on the team in person then we will endeavour to keep the website and social media channels up to date as events unfold.
The bar at Romford will be open from 12pm for anyone who wants to watch some football on television before the kick off. All travelling support is welcome and is always appreciated by the players.
