Bailey Keeps It In The Family

'I scored a few here myself back in the day, but I don’t think I ever worked as hard as he did tonight!'
- Simon Eden

Bailey Eden capped an outstanding performance under the lights at Lowfield by picking up the Greene King “Level Head” Man of the Match Award following Hoddesdon Town’s impressive 2-0 victory over Lymore Gardens on Tuesday night.

The energetic midfielder was at the heart of everything good about Hoddesdon’s play, driving the team forward throughout the game and playing a crucial role in the second-half surge that secured all three points. Eden’s persistence was rewarded when he reacted quickest to fire home the opening goal, setting the Lilywhites on their way to a deserved win and helping avenge the heavy defeat suffered earlier in the season.

After the final whistle, Eden was presented with his award in the clubhouse in front of supporters, players and club officials, receiving a case of the excellent Level Head IPA, kindly supplied by our long-time partners Greene King Brewery, proud sponsors of the Hoddesdon Town Man of the Match award this season.

Adding a special touch to the presentation, the prize was handed over by former Hoddesdon Town favourite Simon Eden, Bailey’s father, who was himself a familiar name at Lowfield during his playing days and well remembered by supporters for his own eye for goal in a Hoddesdon shirt.

Simon was clearly proud of his son’s performance and was full of praise when speaking after the presentation.

I thought Bailey was brilliant tonight,” he said. “He worked hard from the first minute, kept the ball well, and never stopped running. When the game needed someone to make something happen, he stepped up and took his goal really well.

It means a lot for me to be back here at Lowfield, and even more special to present him with the award. I scored a few here myself back in the day, but I don’t think I ever worked as hard as he did tonight!

The moment was warmly received by everyone in the clubhouse, with many supporters commenting on the fitting nature of the presentation — a former Hoddesdon goalscorer handing the Man of the Match award to the next generation in a white shirt.

Eden’s display summed up Hoddesdon’s performance on the night: full of energy, commitment, and belief. After a quiet first half, it was his goal that sparked the game into life and gave Simon Riddle's men the platform to go on and finish strongly, with Connor Bolton’s late header sealing the victory.

The award also continues a strong run of individual performances for Hoddesdon in recent weeks, reflecting the team’s improved form as they continue their push towards the playoff places.

Everyone at Hoddesdon Town Football Club would like to congratulate Bailey on a superb performance and we thank Greene King Brewery for their continued support of the club through the Level Head Man of the Match Award, which has become a popular part of matchdays both on the pitch and in the clubhouse afterwards.

With displays like this, Bailey Eden is certainly keeping a Level Head — and Hoddesdon are reaping the rewards.
