Good evening,

My name is Stuart Varney and I am the Chairman of Hoddesdon Town Football Club. With Hoddesdon Town FC returning to Lowfield this coming weekend, I wanted to drop you all a message, detailing some exciting developments over the summer and keep you all in the loop with what to expect for the new season!

Firstly, the first team have already kicked off their new campaign, and sit 9th in the league table, just two points off of a playoff place. With so much football to come this season, Lowfield is truly is an exciting place to be this year and we can't wait for those 'Tuesday Nights Under The Lights' moments, as well as the familiar Saturday afternoons in the terraces. Last season we won the Herts Senior Centenary Trophy, and Simon Riddle's men will be hoping to add yet more silverware to the cabinet come the end of the season, as well as an assault on promotion to Step 5 football.

This Saturday will be our FIRST home game of the season, where we entertain Hutton FC in crucial league action. Kick off is 3pm and we would love to see as many of you at the game as possible.

We also have even more football at Lowfield this season, with OIR FC.

OIR FC will be playing their home games at Lowfield for the 2024/25 season. Winners of the Middlesex League Division One last season, OIR have been promoted to Step 7 of the football pyramid and will compete in the Herts County League Premier Division for the new season. We are excited to bring even more football to Lowfield this year and encourage you all to get along to their games and support the side, when Hoddesdon are away from home. Matches will be played on Saturday afternoons and midweek so keep an eye on our website for the announcement of their fixtures.

We have a new groundsman at Lowfield this season who will be ensuring the surface at Lowfield is in tip top condition for the lads, and once things settle down and a new schedule of maintenance put in place, we look forward to Adrian Lee providing a surface to be proud of. Working alongside the cricket club, sharing equipment and knowledge and planning for the future together, will only be a positive for Lowfield and the future of sport in Hoddesdon. We say thank you to our previous grounds team, Colin and David, who worked tirelessly at Lowfield to provide a great experience for both players and supporters alike, and their input will be greatly missed.

Off the pitch, there has been much hard work taking place behind the scenes and my committee and I are pleased to let you know about the following updates.

I would like to welcome Danny Smith as the newest member of my committee and look forward to his input. Many of you will be aware of Danny's work, as he serves as the club's official photographer, as well as providing many of the graphics and images you see on our fantastic website and social media pages. It is great news that he has accepted an invitation to join us. I would also like to welcome Elaine Phillips to her new role of Honorary Secretary. Elaine has served on the committee for a number of years now and will bring great experience and energy to the job. I would like to thank Jane Sinden, our previous secretary, for her many years of work in the role and for her complete dedication and professionalism. Jane has won award after award for her efforts, both locally and nationally, and we will forever be indebted to her, and Colin, for everything they have done for Hoddesdon Town Football Club. We will be looking to honour both Jane and Colin for their long years of service to the club, in the not too distant future.
